Story board: for Alec, Jack and Daniel
my role in the film production is to film and contribute to editing and directing, as the photographer i will have to be advised from alec (the director) what shots are needed for what scenes. Because i have my own camera this should be easier, as i wont have to learn how to use a completely new camera. because i have edited a few skate videos and short movies before i have some knowledge on how to use editing software this means i can contribute ideas and help out with editing with the group. Being the camera man will help give ideas for shots that can be edited to make the film run smoothly. i will have to use equipment such as tripods handles and lenses. hopefully my role will contribute to a good short film :D

My role as a photographer means i will have to use different camera shots and angles here are a few ^ close ups, wide angle, mirror shots, and over the shoulder :)

Camera work: the camera work will portray a intense mood throughout the film the shots will be alot of quick moving close up shots accompanied by high angle shots, strong and dull focus shots, pov shots and slow panning shots to create a tense atmosphere in the film, to keep the viewers on the edge of there seats
Lighting: the lighting will be dark for a majority of the film considering the lights will be off. but after the twist it will get lighter within the house to open up the intense mood and make it feel more safer/chilled out. the filters used in the film will be grey tones and dullness to create and eary feel. the boy will always be in the shadows to show how scary his situation is. his dad when he walks in (before you know its his dad) will be in shadows aswell but then in light after he knows its his dad showing relief.
Sound: the sound used will be intense music and create the scary atmosphere. it will build up just before the climax making then drop once it is established it is the dad. then it will switch to chilled music showing relief. there will be background sounds like lights cutting off and pot boiling.
Costume: casual home clothes for boy/ fancy dinner clothes for parents
Setting: a normal home layout. with a kitchen/lounge
Props: the lighting itself, pot, torch, shoes, windows and wine bottle
Editing: the editing will be alot of jump cuts making intense wuick scenes. the actions in the film will drop on music beats making an intense vibe. there will be colour correction making for a grey dull atmosphere and some fading transitions and quick flash transitions will be in there to make it intense at some parts and eary at others.
The codes and conventions of a thriller film that will contribute to this film are: The main character facing death, it is focused from the protagonist point of view, the main plot line is a mystery, the protagonist has an innocent presence. and finally all actions are realistic/natural by the protagonist. (these five codes and conventions of a thriller film will appeal to the target audience because everyone likes suspense and especially teenagers)

Paragraph for film
-Dinner time
The genre of my film is thriller but could almost be comedy because of the twist and the actions of the boy. This will appeal to my target audience because teenagers will like the suspense and the comedic twist. The basic plot is aye 14-15 year old boy is home alone making dinner for himself because his parents have gone out to dinner and are expected to be back much later. It is dark inside and inside the lights begin to flicker, lights then shut off, kid then locks doors for his safety. He hears noises from another room implying someone is breaking in. the twist is that his very drunk dad comes stumbling in. this will appeal to the teenage audience because many teenagers have nights at home alone and if the lights turned off they would most likely be frightened. This makes the film relatable and enjoyable. The antagonist is the boy the other protagonists are the mum and dad. Because the character is the same age or even a little bit younger than the audience they can relate to that identity as a frightened child at home alone. The target audience range is basically 13 up because many teenagers have the experience of staying at home alone and this situation is generally frightening. Adults may also enjoy this film because the situation could maybe happen to everyone. The twist is that it is just a drunk dad breaking into the house after the boy has locked the doors because of a power cut. The atmosphere will be eary, the suspense will build until the viewer thinks something bad is going to happen. Then it will drop and be a lighthearted releaved/comedic vibe. The style is intense usually this will keep the audience intrigued because everyone likes suspense.
It starts with two of the main charters having a coffe across the road from a massive apartment block, The they here screaming and yelling from the apartment block they run over and see a man attempting to jump of the top of the building. Everyone is yelling and trying every kind of way to make him stop. In the end he jumps and everyone thinks he is about to die but….. he lands on a matress and then the director says cut and it was just a scence from a film and that is the twist

Short story concept
My main character is a 16 year old boy who is home alone it is 9.00. His parents have gone out for dinner and won’t be home until about 12:30. He has started to make his dinner when the lights in his house begin to flicker, mysterious music starts. He starts to get a little nervous but carrys on making rice. (close up shot of pot boiling) eary feeling to the scene. The lights flicker again. But this time more intense. (Intense music) the boy is now feeling nervous so he quickly locks all of the doors in his house but gets back to cooking his meal. The lights flicker then a popping sound as the power completely cuts out. The boy now is extremely nervous/scared as he scrambles around his house for a torch. Whilst rummaging through a draw he hears a window opening his heart starts to beat extremely fast. And he begins to breath heavily. Music picks up to scary intense music. He hears a crashing through the lounge. He braces himself to run. The music grows faster and faster. There is a loud stumbling noise through the lounge the boy grabs a pan and gets ready. Then an extremely drunk father stumbles though the hallway greeting his son with a smile. Sluring his words he explains “dinner got cancelled i got to drunk” close behind him his sober mum follows with a unimpressed look on her face.
